ITDC’s core Energy & Technology practice is focused on developing energy projects and bringing new energy technologies to commercialization in international markets. The primary focus of these projects is in Brazil, though ITDC has done work in other parts of Latin America. Through its international network ITDC has been able to identify multiple technologies and works with various in-country partners on commercializing them for our clients. ITDC is also involved in alternative fuel sourcing – including securing contracts for Biodiesel, Ethanol, Vegetable Oils (Soy+) and Wood Pellets.

Project Development/Alternative Fuels Sourcing
ITDC uses it networks in Latin America and other key primary producer markets to identify new energy development projects, with a focus on developing sources of alternative fuels, from Ethanol and Biodiesel to vegetable oils and biomass. ITDC works with international energy companies and commodities traders to place these products in the international market.
PROJECTS
- Jatropha project. ITDC is involved with the establishment of a large scale forward integrated Jatropha Curcas oil production company, with plantations and crushing facilities located in the Northeast of Brazil to supply the domestic and international alternative fuel markets. (Project Value: $150M)
- Ethanol Project. ITDC is involved in the establishment of a new Ethanol Production Facility in the south central region of Brazil. (Project Value: $150M)
- Biomass Development Project, Brazil: Implementing large scale biomass plantations using HDSR (High Density Short Rotation) tree as feedstock for fuel/energy. (Project Value: $100M)
- Ethanol/Biodiesel/VegOil, Brazil: ITDC is involved with various alternative fuel sourcing projects, partnering with in-country agricultural/industrial companies to develop Ethanol, Biodiesel and Vegetable Oil supply contracts.

Technology Commercialization
ITDC uses its deep understanding of the markets in Brazil and other regions in Latin America, including MercoSur and Central America, to identify areas where technologies being developed and commercialized in the US and Europe could be applied. ITDC works with local partners to commercialize these technologies for its clients.
TECHNOLOGIES
- HDSR Tree Species: ITDC has an agreement with a US Biotechnology company to develop projects in Brazil around a High Density Short Rotation (HDSR) tree stock, that grows in sub-standard soils yet still produces 5x-10x more biomass than other plant species. The tree also provides for soil/water remediation.
- Biomass Renewable Diesel Conversion Solution: ITDC is working with a US based technology company to develop projects in Brazil around their solution for the conversion of biomass to a renewable diesel (syn-gas).
- Biodigestion Solution: ITDC is working with a Canadian based technology company to develop projects in Brazil around their solution for the conversion of Ethanol industry waste streams into renewable energy and other high value agricultural products.
- Vertical Axis Wind Solution: ITDC is working with a US based technology company to develop projects in Brazil around their solution for vertical axis wind towers.
- Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) Energy Systems. ITDC is working with an US company to commercialize an EU developed solution for converting diesel engines into flex-fuel motors that can run on straight vegetable oil, biodiesel or diesel fuel.
- Biodiesel Production Systems: ITDC is working with a US based company to commercialize a patented, small yet infinitely scalable system for producing ASTM standard Biodiesel from any vegetable oil input, including waste oil products.
